It starts at 7:00 p.m. Bring a lawn chair and a picnic and enjoy Broadway tunes from Salt Marsh Opera.
To get the ball rolling at the soon-to-open Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center (The Kate) we have a lovely free outdoor Broadway pre-open concert for you.
Salt Marsh Opera, founded in 2000, will perform on the balcony of the beautiful new venue for you as you sit on the Old Saybrook Green.
Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and a picnic and enjoy!
The performance at 7:00 P.M., Wednesday evening, September 2, will feature sopranos, Susan von Reichenbach and Sarah Callinan, tenor Brian Cheney and baritone, Douglas Jabara.
The piano will be played by Salt Marsh Opera artistic director, Simon Holt.
You will hear selections from Carousel, West Side Story, My Fair Lady, Chicago and Les Miserables.
Rain Date info: should the weather not hold for the September 2nd outdoor concert, it will be held the following Wednesday, September 9th.
Salt Marsh Opera will be reappearing at The Kate again after we’re really rolling.
You can see them on Saturday, October 30th and Sunday, November 1, 2009. During that run, you will be treated to Johann Strauss’s operetta “Die Fledermaus.” That will be performed indoors on the stage.
The Box office at The Kate will be open during the outdoor concert for you to be able to buy tickets to Salt Marsh Opera’s next events.
Indeed, can’t wait to see you at “The Kate!”
