Ready, Set, Go!
In this challenging real estate market, never underestimate power of the Five P’s.
Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance
It is vital to prepare your property for going on the market, with many homes available for buyers to view, make sure your home stands out!
Many low-cost or no-cost improvements can be made to get your home ready for the market.
Less is More
Start pre-packing. Remove excess personal items from closets, cabinetry and shelves.
Place in boxes or Rubbermaid containers and store in the basement or garage.
Too much “stuff” distracts buyers and they focus on your belongings rather than the home’s features.
This goes for the outside too! Pick up extra toys and debris from the front yard and driveway.
Make it Sparkle
Clean countertops, appliances, cabinet doors, floors & windows…make everything shine.
A clean home makes it appear well loved and well maintained.
A little elbow grease goes a long way and the cost is minimal!
First Impressions are Key
Apply a fresh coat of paint to the front door.
Make sure the lockset works easily; this is the buyer’s first introduction to your home.
Clean the glass on the storm door.
Put out a new front door mat.
Appeal to the Senses
You would be amazed at how quickly scent can turn off a buyer.
Let lots of fresh air in.
Do not overly scent with sprays or plug-ins.
Handle the underlying odor problem if there is one.
Homes that look great, have been maintained and are well priced will be more appealing to buyers and will perform better in the marketplace.
As is true in most things in life, preparation is everything!
