What’s it all about?

Over 150 local girls, ages 5-13, will model the fashions, while lively historical commentary, music and decorations help create a memorable day for girls and their friends/families. Audiences will delight in historical clothing, from daywear to special-occasion clothing, that resembles what the popular American Girl characters Kaya, Felicity, Elizabeth, Josefina, Kirsten, Addy, Kit, Ruthie, Molly, Emily, Julie and Ivy might have worn. And, for the first time, the newest American Girl doll, Rebecca Rubin, will join the cast. Contemporary “Just Like You” outfits for older girls and sweet Bitty Baby fashions for little ones complete the program. The fashion shows also include tea party refreshments, an American Girl Marketplace boutique, a doll hair salon, a raffle, a silent auction, special door prizes and goodie bags for all of the girls.

Each show is approximately 2 hours long and all proceeds benefit the children’s programs ElmCityParent.com of The James Blackstone Memorial Library. Sponsors of the event include Citizens Bank, the Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven, the Community Foundation of Greater New Haven, the United Way of Greater New Haven, WTNH News Channel 8, SoundRunner, , Arbones, King & Vlock Architects, Omni New Haven Hotel at Yale, Tricia Bohan Photography, Glow Face and Body Boutique, Andrew Rubenoff: Design, Giordano Construction, and Jo Bella Salon.
