seaoftrees_11_tmbrownIt is an absolutely huge weekend in Connecticut, and to all of us, the true kickoff to the holiday season. At Shoreline Out and About, we never forget all that we have, and we are grateful, and want to give thanks to all of our faithful readers. We will be doing our best to keep you up to date on as many Holiday Happenings as we can, and will post the specials that our advertisers are putting out, but for now, here is your weekend update.

Although most towns do their tree lighting’s next Friday, Mystic Aquarium will kicking off their “Sea of Trees‘ show on Friday. So, if Black Friday is not your thing, take the kids on out to see all the beautifully decorated trees amongst all of the regular exhibits.

The weekend puts out a huge selection of bands covering a wide genre of music,  with Saturday being the best night that I have seen. But on Friday, you have Steamroller doing their thing at The Blue Cottage in Branford, Red line at JRoos in North Haven. Crosseyed Cat is got it going on at Rider’s in Thomaston. The Bernadettes are at The Georgetown Saloon in where else, Georgetown, and the one and only Beehive Queen, Christine Ohlman and Rebel Montez are having their second release party at Blackeye Sally’s in Hartford. For those of you who could not get in at Cafe Nine, here is your chance to see the Queen in action and pick up her new cd, “The Deep End“, which has gotten rave reviews, but the again, do you expect anything less from Christine and Rebel Montez?

Now, onto Saturday. The Bernadettes are back at it, this time they bring they bring it to Daniels Street in Milford, My good friend, The Tune Chic is rocking it at The New Orleans in Westbrook, The Great American Popcorn Machine has Donovan’s Reef in Branford kickin it, and The F-Bombs are flying at The Cambridge Brew House in Torrington.  And we are not done yet, Once Removed is playing The Gaelic American Club in Fairfield,The Michael Cleary Band is at Fishbones in Middletown, and finally, The Cobalt Rhythm Kings are laying the rifts down at Cherry Street Restaurant in Wallingford.

If you want something a little more relaxing ( why????) then on Friday at The Kate in Old Saybrook, laugh it up with The Comedy Zone, and On Saturday, The Santa Class is in session at The Gared Arts Center. Also on Saturday L’Eliser D’Amore will be at The Garde.

So, a pretty good start to the Holiday Season, and we are thankful for the opportunity to share all that is fun in this great state! So get out and get social, and be smart, as we look forward to you being around for next weeks Shoreline Out and About!
