Kind of a cold and crappy day out there, so, definite indoor activity day. Despite the weather, there is some really cool stuff going down, and you do have options.

First is a “Operation Home for the Holidays” This is an initiative started by Governor Rell to bring our National Guard troops home for the holidays. Currently we have over 700 of our brothers and sisters at various bases throughout the United States awaiting deployment to either Afghanistan or Iraq, I don’t know how many of you follow the sitiuation in Afghanistan, but despite the winter settling in, the hteater remains hot, and these troops are in for an extremely dangerous deployment. Let’s bring them home, so they can enjoy the holidays. Although my situation was differant, I spent 3 consecutive years away from home while serving in the Marines, and trust me, it was avery difficult time. Combine that with imminent deployment to a very hot combat zone, well the least we can do is help them get home before deployment.

Now, on to the music scene. Tonite you have The Mojo Kings at Johnny Ray’s in Milford,and Tom Sanders at Cherry Street in Wallingford. Also in Wallingford at Jake’s , you have the All In Band. These guys usually play up in the Torrington area, so if you are in the area, catch them while they are “local” Tall Horses will be making an appearance at Augur’s Irish Pub in Guilford.

My dilemna tonite though involves two of my favorite performers. Sandy Connally aka Tune Chic will be at one of my favorite hangs, The Country Tavern, and Christine Ohlman and Rebel Montez will be having a CD release party for their latest “The Deep End” at Cafe Nine. So what to do? Maybe both? We will see, but whatever you chose, you cannot go wwrong. So be smart, and be safe, as we want you all around for our next week at Shorelineoutandabout.com
