eagle The weather looks good for this weekend. No snow, and rain isn’t supposed to start til Sunday, when a lot of us are going to be indoors watching football anyways. Better yet, head on down to your local watering hole such as The Country Tavern or Augur’s and take advantage of those promo’s that the distributor’s  are putting out. Hard to beat a 6′ sub.

Friday night is a great night to be out. The newly formed Performing Arts Society of East Haven presents their inaugural production with “Father of the Bride”. This group has worked very hard to get this production and group going. If you can, head on over to East Haven High School, 35 Wheelbarrow Road, and show them that we support them and their efforts. They will also be on stage tomorrow night.

2 cat zooMusic wise, it is a little on the quiet side, but check your local hang out, as their is always last minute additions. I will tell you that at The Kate, The Small Town Concert Series is presenting Bluegrass at High Tide. It is not very often that you get this genre live, and to have it at The Kate, pretty much guarantees that this is going to be an exceptional show. The other must see show is 2 Cat Zoo at The Black Sheep in Niantic. If you have not seen these two guys yet, you need to get there. Top that with a traditional Irish Pub and Guinness on tap, and poured properly, well guess where I’m stopping in.

DerekRaposoSaturday brings the start of a very cool thing for the next several weeks. The Eagle Watch is starting up. Here is your chance to see the symbol of our great country. The Audubon Shop of Madison will be guiding tours to see this great raptor. Yes, there are eagles in Connecticut, along with numerous other species. The Kate is following up a great show on Friday with an evening of magic by Derek Raposo. See this up and coming star up close and personal. Their is not a bad seat at The Kate. Check Derek out, and see if you can figure out how he does it. The Small Town Concert Series is at it again, this time at The Ivoryton Play House. STCS presents SWDD 2010Shoreline Women Digging Dylan is their tribute to construction workers everywhere. Sorry, wrong notes. Seriously, Bob Dylan is one of the most prolific songwriters of our times. Check the show out, and I promise that you will absolutely love the performance, and will say to yourself , several times, ” I didn’t know that was a Dylan tune”. The other show of note is Wicked Peach at Legends Cafe in Gales Ferry. Remember how I told you that 2 Cat Zoo was preety damn good? Well Wicked Peach is the whole band. They have been rocking eastern Connecticut and Rhode Island for many years, so if you have not seen them, Gales Ferry is not that far away, so get some friends and Road Trip!!!!

One more of special note. Hey Don D, thought I forgot about you didn’t you? Check out one of the areas best bands to dance to. The one and only Bernadettes. Saturday Night at The Chowder Pot in Branford. Bring friends, and get out on the dance floor.

No matter what you do, get out and get social. And if yopu are out, please be safe, and be smart. Designate a driver, because we want to see you out and about next weekend.

Peace Out.
