The second show will be Shana at Auger’s Irish Pub, 23 Water Street, Guilford. I am still working on another cool vender for that show, but trust me, Shana has been pretty much been doing nothing except making her custom jewelry, so there will be plenty of her creative designs. You can also pick up your Shoreline out and about membership crds at the same time.

If you should happen to have either a donation for The Community Dining Room, or Toys For Tots, go ahead and drop it off at either location, and we will make sure that it gets to where it needs to go.

And on Thursday, December 10th from 5pm to 8pm, Stony Creek Gallery will be hosting a reception for the opening of “Affordable Gems” . This reception will be co-hosted by The Stony Creek market, and The Stony Creek Package store. Admission is $5 donation for homeless veterans, or a new, unwrapped toy for Yale New Haven.\’s Auxillaries Toy Closet.

All the Chester townspeople will be involved in the Annual Holiday Night Festival in the town of Chester, held this year on Friday, Dec. 4, from 5 to 8 p.m. Boy Scouts line the streets with luminaries, Saint Lucia Girls stroll around offering goodies to visitors, local singers lead the annual carol sing-along while the town’s Christmas tree is lighted and the Chester Rotarians help the children hang their decorations. The Chester Garden Club members decorate buildings and lampposts and the Chester Hose Company unveils the 2009 pewter ornament celebrating Chester, this year designed by Chester artist Sosse Baker.

Chester village is small enough to be ideal for walking, but it is big enough to offer a myriad of opportunities for browsing, shopping, wining, dining, and gallery exploring at the Holiday Night Festival. The stores, art and photography galleries, and restaurants throughout the village stay open all evening. Shopping opportunities run the gamut from unique infantwear to outrageous faux fur wraps, handmade watches and beads to wooden lamps, antique furnishings to wall reliefs, books to hats, calendars to tiles, and much much more.

Chester is well-known for its many different galleries. The Chester Gallery’s annual “Postcard Show” features only art measuring 4″ by 6″ or smaller, and this year celebrates area architects. The Lori Warner Studio & Gallery will open its new show, “12 Designs of Christmas,” for which its artists and designers each personally selected 12 of their favorite pieces to exhibit for the holidays, from stocking stuffers to one-of-a-kind works of art. The eo art lab hosts “Give and Take,” a group show by all of eo’s artists, while at the Connecticut River Artisans, works of 25 different artisans are displayed. The Leif Nilsson Spring Street Gallery offers Leif Nilsson’s oil paintings and Caryn Davis’s photographs from world travels as well as the Connecticut River. The new Al Malpa Photo Gallery will host a new holiday exhibit while the Colt House Gallery will feature new box constructions and digital imagery archival prints by Bill Vollers.

In addition, this year more than 20 local artists and designers are setting up a Holiday Shopping Extravaganza with tables of their handmade gift items at the Chester Meeting House for the evening.

Besides the delectable refreshments, wine and cider offered at the stores and galleries, the River Tavern’s Dinners at the Farm truck will serve up warm and tasty treats, and the new L&E Restaurant/French 75 Bar invites you to sample Peter Marshall’s award-winning martinis and cocktails and munch on complimentary bar appetizers.

Free parking is available at the town’s parking lots at 20 Water Street and Maple Street, both a short walk to the center. Limited on-street parking is available as portions of Main Street will be closed to vehicle traffic.

Let’s start with our four legged friends. It never seems to amaze me the costumes that we people come up with for our non human best friends. For the record, once tried to dress Iggy Pup the pit bull in a tutu. He did not take well to that, and I can show you the scar to prove it. I guess pink wasn’t the best color… Seriously, right now, animal adoption agencies are pushed to the limit and need your help. So what better way to support Animal Haven than to attend The Halloween Dog Costume Parade at The Barking Lot, 940 Sherman Ave, Hamden. Our own Pam Landry (that is so freakin cool to be able to say that) will be the judging. For those who have not had a chance to meet Pam from her radio days, don’t miss the chance. Absolutely one of the best, and I am damn proud to have her on our website.Desiree Fontaine from WTNH will hosting the “Witches and Whiskers“ fundraiser on Halloween night.

Next, let’s get the rugrats taken care of. After all, this is the second best holiday for them.  So, in Guilford is the 4th Annual Halloween Happenings Costume Parade, and Trick or Treating on the Green. Additionally, they will have a magician/illusionist performing on the Green at 3PM. Check the link for details. In Old Lyme, they have an early start with Halloween Fun! starting at 10AM. In Bridgeport, the totally hot restaurant and live music venue Two Boots has King For A Day, Bristol’s  Downtown Cafe has the totally funked out FBI, Toad’s Place has it’s mega Kooks and Spooks convention, Cherry Street in Wallingford hav the BeeHive Queen, Miss Cristine Ohlman and Rebel Montez putiing on the hip shakin Voodoo Ball. Closer to home, at least for me is The Downshift Band at Augur’s Irish Pub, where the Hit squad and I will stop in, and then we will be finishing the night at The Country Tavern with Bad Assets cranking out the tunes. So no matter where you are, get out and get social. And as always, be good (at least somewhat) and be safe.
